On the continuation of the war – zvi Bar’el in Haaretz:

‘On a declarative level, Hamas informed Egypt that it is willing to accept any solution for managing Gaza, reiterating this in a letter to the Arab League.
"Whether it's setting up a national consensus government comprised of Palestinian technocrats, experts, and professionals, or forming a civilian support committee as proposed by Egypt's government," any solution is acceptable, said the letter sent this weekend by the head of Hamas' Shura Council, Muhammad Darwish.
However, Darwish made it clear that Hamas will oppose any proposal to station non-Palestinian troops in Gaza. Moreover, he said the organization's goal is to restructure the PLO "on the basis of cooperation among all Palestinian factions," including Hamas and Islamic Jihad. In other words, Hamas doesn't intend to give up its organization, much less its arms, "until an independent Palestinian state is established."’

‘A former Egyptian diplomat familiar with the mood in the presidential palace told Haaretz on Sunday that the Philadelphi corridor "isn't just a tactical security issue or one that violates the Camp David Accords," the Israeli-Egyptian peace treaty.
He said the critical issue is that Israeli control of the Philadelphi corridor gives Israel the power to decide when to open the Gaza-Egypt border, potentially enabling hundreds of thousands of Gazans to cross and settle in Egyptian territory.
"The result could be a catastrophe, because the Egyptian Army might find itself in a situation where it has to open fire on fleeing people to prevent their entry, or worse, end up in a military confrontation with Israeli forces."’

‘Riyadh, which has pledged to invest $600 billion in the U.S. during Trump's term, has adopted Egypt's plan for Gaza, and it may serve as a key player in promoting an administrative solution to the Strip to prevent the renewal of the war.
Trump has given Israel a free hand in Gaza, but Saudi Arabia has committed to Egypt and Jordan to prevent implementing the transfer plan, which could halt humanitarian aid and renew the war. Witkoff's personal commitment to achieving the release of all hostages remains key, and he has yet to indicate that renewing the war will advance that goal.’

The irony of it all, so it’s up to Saudi-Arabia to prevent a renewal of the war in Gaza, a war without any strategic gains or it must the continuation of the reign of Netanyahu.
And besides Saudi-Arabia, it’s Witkoff’s personal commitment to get the hostages out of Gaza.

Witkoff and Saudi-Arabia as the saviors. What’s between us and transfer plan: Witkoff.
